Systems for a healthier WORLD
The Musizi Health Systems Institute (MHSI) is poised to revolutionize health systems management in Africa and the world. Our programmes prepare students to plan, manage, and evaluate health systems in order to address the emerging world’s most pressing health challenges.

ABOUT Musizi Health data Programme (MHDP)
The Musizi Health Data Programme was established by health professionals dedicated to addressing the unique challenges of implementing digital health systems and data-driven healthcare in Uganda. MHDP is primarily an educational force that focuses on developing project-based curriculum to improve healthcare data management, enhance patient care, and streamline health information systems.
By leveraging connections between health actors and collaborative research in emerging markets, we aim to transform the digital health landscape and support sustainable healthcare improvements in the region. We are based in Kampala, Uganda and associated with the Musizi University Project.

Through the aggregation of multiple data pools, MHDI can offer powerful data validation, and analysis of these more holistic datasets can build new understandings of the public health landscape.

The challenge
The Musizi Health Data Programme (MHDP) was created to support the digitization of Uganda’s health ecosystem. The Ministry of Health (MoH) is encouraging the healthcare sector to digitize in line with the Health Information and Digital Health Strategic Plan 2020/21 - 2024/25, as well as the MoH Strategic Plan 2020/21. However, almost all organizations and facilities lack both expertise and support for this digital transition.
The MHDP will springboard Ugandan health into the data-driven age. Our courses are run with the goal of training professionals to support all levels of digital health transition and utilization.
We see a future where health data seamlessly flows between organizations, enabling new research, improved healthcare delivery, and better health outcomes for all. To reach this vision of digital health, the MHDP works to address health data challenges from the ground up.
